Principal's Message

Rob McQuate, MGHS PrincipalHello, and welcome to a new school year at Mount Gilead High School! I’m Mr. McQuate, the new principal of MGHS. Whether you are new to the school, or have been in this district all your life, I cannot wait to meet you, and welcome you to the new year.

It is an honor for me to be able to serve you as the principal of MGHS, and I look forward to working with you to continue the tremendous success that has been achieved here at the high school. I want to encourage students to become involved in any extracurricular activities that might interest them. There are many opportunities to join clubs, student government, volunteer and academic organizations and athletics, or to participate in band, choir, FFA or 4H. And, for parents and guardians, please contact me when you have any questions or concerns. My door is always open, and you are always welcome.

As we prepare for the new school year, I encourage you to focus on three big ideas:

First, Attendance is extremely important. Being here at school, every day, goes a long way to making sure students keep up with classes, communicate with their  teachers, and stay close to their friends while being a part of the community at MGHS.

Second, Academics. Students should feel free to ask questions in class, while making sure to set aside time to study every day, and complete homework to the best of their ability.

Third, and finally, Accountability. Being accountable for our actions, behavior, and words. I encourage you to review the MGHS Parent/Student Handbook and Code of Conduct to be sure of expectations. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the high school at your convenience.

I count it a privilege to be a part of this tradition rich community. The academic, athletic and extracurricular opportunities here at MGHS are second to none. I look forward to meeting everyone, and building on the accomplishments and successes of our school and district.

If you have any questions, or ideas, please let me know. I am always available and happy to listen and help.

Sincerely,

Mr. McQuate
